Vetumbuavi Mungunda is the Chief Executive of Standard Bank Namibia since 1 April 2014. He was born in Windhoek, Namibia. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant in both Namibia and South Africa and holds a B. Com (University of Namibia) and Post-Graduate Diploma in Accounting (Rhodes University, South Africa). In 2017, he attended the Advanced Management Programme (AMP) from Harvard Business School in the United States (U.S).
His career started in 1996 as an Audit trainee at Deloitte (Windhoek), working his way up as Audit Manager, Senior Manager and then Partner and Managing Partner (Deloitte Namibia). He later held the position of Regional Managing Partner for Deloitte Southern Corridor (responsible for Malawi, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe) until the end of 2013. In addition, he served as Board member of Public Accountants & Auditors Board (PAAB) and Council Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Namibia (ICAN).
He has extensive experience in policy and strategy development, business repositioning, corporate structuring, restructuring, business process re-engineering and governance. He was conferred the award of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Year 2018 by the Institute of People’s Management in Namibia. He has directed various studies into the review and development of key national policies and has been appointed by the President of Namibia on the High-Level Committee on the Economy in March 2019.
